Description

The Lead Data Engineer’s role is to lead the development of data acquisition and processing and to architect data structures for storing medical imaging and related data. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for data collection, curation, processing, storage and retrieval of medical image data and clinical metadata
  • Design scalable processes to support data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
  • Lead a team of advanced Data Engineers to design, build, and test large scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data
  • Implement processes to ensure highest quality of all data systems
  • Curate and connect disparate data sources, including different data types and from different source locations
  • Act as a mentor to junior team members and a subject matter expert to support the whole technical team

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science
  • 5+ Software Engineering, Data Engineering, DB Administration, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering
  • Strong experience with Python
  • Extensive experience with AWS and/or GCP 
  • Experience with one or more databases such as MySQL, PostreSQL, MongoDB or similar
  • Experience with data structures at scale
  • Experience with DICOM medical images
  • Experience working with data requiring HIPAA compliance
  • Strong coursework/experience in programming and working with complex datasets
  • Experience working via an Agile, sprint-based working style 
  • Independent self-starter with the ability to manage complex workflows and deliver accurate results on time
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to integrate data from across the organization
  • Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, version control, and git workflows
  • Passion for healthcare and improving patient outcomes

Preferred:

  • Experience with cloud based data warehousing offerings and toolsets such as Snowflake, AWS Redshift Spectrum, Informatica, etc.
  • Proficiency with tools to automate CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with frameworks for either Machine Learning or NLP
  • Experience developing efficient Extract/Load/Transform (ETL) workflows
